Brew Number 42

  • Grumpy's "Colonial" Mild Irish Stout
  • Grumpy's Dark Malt Extract
  • Wyeast #1335 (British Ale II) (1st generation - 27/05/06)

Was brought out to 20L. Yeast pitched at 24.1 degrees. Used fermenter #1.

Apparently the yeast has an apparent attenuation of 74% If that is so the final gravity should be...

FG = (SG - 1000) * (1 - AA/100) + 1000 
   = ((1051 - 1000) * (1 - 74/100)) + 1000
   = 1013.7

Notes

  • Used 300mL of the 1st generation starter made on 27/02/06.
  • Boiled with the finishing hops for 3 minutes.
  • Used 140g of priming sugar.
  • Got 53 375mL stubbies from 20L.
